What Is WTF

They woke up in a changed world. Freak lightning storms brought hysteria, mass seizures and wildfires. Those who survived, they were different. Now a small group of friends must try to navigate both a familiar & hostile landscape as their world descends into darkness.

“They got it in their heads that the storms are sent to punish us, that God wants us humbled." “So they want to suffer, and now anything that eases that is bad?” Luke asked with no ability to understand it. “Pretty much,” The woman said.

"He never considered himself to be 'A Good Soldier', he was filled with wanderlust, too taken by the wind, an explorer at heart. He had to suppress those impulses every mission he ran in the sand box. He never expected he'd be running the same armed convoys in his own home town."

"She was the clever one, always had a plan, always knew what to do. They'd follow her lead... They'd follow her to the ends of the abyss if she asked. But did she have any right to lead them on such a trail to oblivion?"

"He had been an artist and musician, a creator and entertainer. Now his days were spent in books on anatomy and hard physiology. If he was to be any use to the doctors trying to understand this New Dark Age, he had years to catch up and no sleep to do it."

"He imagined a small cabin, a simple thing built with roughly shorn logs, a small and humble home. Soon other cabins popped up around the home, then barns, animal pens, then there was a well, a septic system, stoves, heating, tools... We just have to earn it."

"He was a healer once, before he saw beyond the veil. He found something in that abyss and brought it back. A fractured mind for a fractured world with a chance to make it more, it was a wise trade... at least he hoped."

"The locals had personalized the common area to be more akin to a tavern than a sterile hospital cafeteria."

"And they marched with such joy. What sort of person would march so proud in this horde? He wondered. Who would take pride in being part of this revulsion he now felt? He did not know."

Inspiration

It started with a few pens, paper and some dice… Just a few teens gathered around cheap candles trying to waste away a Sunday night. There were pizzas, jokes, and the company of some of the brightest souls I had ever encountered in my young life. The saga rose and fell in priority to all through the years. But our group kept revisiting the the world through their character sheets, venturing forth into more than a few complex dramas and very often causing hastily cobbled together side plots…. and time ticked on.

WTF is a tribute to all those Indulgent and sometimes alcohol saturated late nights. It’s an expanded record of how we grew into (and in many ways avoided) Adulthood.

The Art Of WTF

The process has gone on for longer than I care to remember. Crude sketches in classes. Napkins at restaurants. Eventually early digital concept art and eventually 3d models and animation.

Me:

I’m a Full Time Paramedic, Teacher, Martial Artist and creative aspirant of many mediums. I paint, draw, I make video games and write. Btw I’m also a devout nerd and all round nice guy.

Initially worked in the 3d Art and Design field. Attending SVA in Manhatten. Changed careers after a few years in the Graphics field moving into Emergency Medicine. Graduated Stony Brooks Paramedic Course in ’09 and has been working in the emergency sector for over 10 years. With the blood and demons associated with that work, Storytelling has been one my best way to say sane through it.

I’m an optimistic spiritualist, and politically agnostic.
